MONDAY UPDATES: Three mid-Missouri counties report multiple COVID-19 deaths

Three mid-Missouri counties are each reporting two COVID-19 deaths in their respective counties.

According to the Chariton County Health Center, the county now has 14 COVID-19 related deaths.

The health center reports a total of 551 coronavirus cases with 66 of them considered active.

The county has reported 471 recoveries since March.

In Maries County, the Phelps-Maries County Health Department is reporting a total of nine deaths

The health department is reporting 44 active cases with a total of 560 total cases since the pandemic started.

The county is reporting a total of 507 recoveries.

The Morgan County Health Center is reporting its 25th and 26th COVID-19 related deaths today.

The health center is reproting 1,355 total cases and 98 active cases currently.

The county has reported 1,231 recoveries.

Boone County reports over 12,000 total COVID-19 cases; over 11,000 released from isolation

Columbia/Boone County Department of Public Health and Human Services is reporting 91 new active cases, a decrease of 38 cases from Sunday.

The dashboard is currently reporting 916 active cases.

The county now has a reported total number of COVID-19 cases of 12,050 since March.

The county has reported the total number of cases removed from isolation is 11,096.

The health department reported three more COVID-19 related deaths earlier today.

Columbia/Boone County Department of Public Health and Human Services dashboard has reported the latest five-day average as 111.

The dashboard is reporting the positivity rate currently sits at 33.2% for Dec. 4 through last Thursday.

The health department is reporting the total hospitalizations in Boone County at 145 cases.

The number of Boone County residents hospitalized is reported to be 32.

The dashboard is reporting 34 COVID-19 patients in the ICU and 14 patients on ventilators.

The hospital status is still currently in the 'yellow' zone.

Boone County reports third coronavirus death in same day

Boone County health officials have reported two more deaths related to COVID-19, the second and third they publicized Monday.

The Columbia/Boone County Department of Public Health and Human Services said Monday afternoon that two people between the ages of 70 and 74 had died after contracting the novel coronavirus. The department reported Monday morning that it had been notified of another death over the weekend -- this one a patient in the 50-54 age range.

Thirty-eight Boone County residents have now died from COVID-19, with 20 of those deaths reported since the start of November. The COVID-19 pandemic in Missouri began in March, with Boone County logging the state's first death.

Health officials didn't release any other information about the deaths reported Monday.

The pace of death has increased in Mid-Missouri this fall amid a surge in coronavirus cases. Older people and those with underlying medical conditions are at highest risk for the worst complications of COVID-19. In Boone County, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services reports 16 nursing home residents died through Nov. 29. Most of the county's deaths are in people 75 and older.

Boone County has also reported several deaths in younger COVID-19 patients this week and last week.

Missouri plans to prioritize nursing home residents and workers and other health-care workers in its initial phase of coronavirus vaccine distribution in part to help reduce the death rate. The state expects vaccination to begin this week.

Boone County surpasses 1,000 active coronavirus cases; positive test rate down

Boone County has again surpassed the 1,000 active cases mark after recording triple-digit new coronavirus cases each day of the weekend.

The Columbia/Boone County Department of Public Health and Human Services reported 114 new cases Saturday and 129 on Sunday. That makes five straight days with new cases totals higher than 100, including 206 cases reported Wednesday.

The new cases pushed the number of active cases countywide to 1,060.

The county was also notified of the death of a COVID-19 patient in the 50-54 age group over the weekend, bringing Boone County's total to 36. Most of those deaths have been reported in the last six weeks, including four deaths this month of people younger than 65.

Boone County's positive COVID-19 test rate fell almost 10 percentage points last week to 27.7%. The rate has not been that low since late October.

Moniteau County reports resident in their 90s has died from COVID-19

The Moniteau County Health Center reported a resident at least 90 years old is the latest to die from COVID-19.

A Facebook post from the health center said Monday's announcement marks the 16th virus-related death in the county since the pandemic started. It's the first such announcement this month.

The health center has reported three COVID-19 deaths in November and seven others in October.

On Friday -- the most recent virus data available in the county -- Moniteau County had reported 1,532 total COVID-19 cases since the pandemic started. The county's COVID-19 dashboard said 94 of the cases were active, 1,423 had recovered and five were hospitalized.

Boone County reports another COVID-19 death in younger patient

Another Boone County resident has died from complications associated with COVID-19, the 19th to do so since the start of November.

The victims of the disease caused by the novel coronavirus are also getting younger.

The Columbia/Boone County Department of Public Health said on its social media accounts Monday that it was notified over the weekend of the death of a COVID-19 patient age 50-54. The department says 36 Boone County residents with COVID-19 have died.

The pace of death has accelerated in Boone County, with the majority coming in the last month and a half. Health officials reported five deaths last week alone.

The health department has also reported several deaths of patients in younger age groups -- four of the deaths reported since the start of December are in people younger than 65. Most of the county's deaths for the entire pandemic have been in people age 75 and older.

The federal Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services says 16 nursing home residents in Boone County had died as of Nov. 29.

Boone County's hospitals reported treating 152 patients with COVID-19 as of Friday. Of those 40 are in intensive care and 22 are on ventilators.

Coronavirus hospitalizations and ICU stays down, statewide positivity rate continues to fall

Missouri's state hospital officials said virus-related hospitalizations and ICU admissions have slightly decreased since Sunday. New health data included the statewide positivity rate continues to fall.

The Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services COVID-19 dashboard said virus-related hospitalizations were down to 2,637 on Thursday -- the most updated information available. It a decrease of 75 from the day before.

Hospital officials said 604 were admitted to the ICU on Thursday -- 40 fewer admissions from the day before.

Both coronavirus hospitalizations and ICU stays have remained high recently.

The state's seven-day COVID-19 positivity rate has continued to fall. As of Monday morning, it was reported at 17.8% -- a decrease of 0.2% over the last 24 hours. The rate has steadily fallen since the beginning of December.

The health department reported 2,562 new cases in Missouri, according to the dashboard. It brings the pandemic total up to 347,603. Health officials also reported three new deaths since Sunday.

Missouri was 20th in the nation for new COVID-19 cases over the last week -- 18.564 -- and 18th in the US for new virus-related deaths over the same period -- 83.
