Coronavirus outbreak at Jefferson City Manor worsens
JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (KMIZ)
A COVID-19 outbreak that affected dozens at a Jefferson City nursing home has worsened since Monday.
Data provided by JMS Senior Living, the company that operates Jefferson City Manor, said 51 of the facility's 63 residents have active COVID-19 cases as of Friday.
At least a dozen more residents have tested positive for novel coronavirus since the beginning of the week.
A company spokesman said in a news release on Monday three of the residents had died after testing positive. It included each had underlying health conditions.
The website said 35 employees have tested positive for COVID-19, up by seven since Monday. Of those with confirmed coronavirus cases, 34 were active cases and not working, the website said.
It included the skilled nursing facility had three active COVID-19 clusters, which the company describes as "whenever three or more residents or staff with a new onset of respiratory symptoms occur within 72 hours of each other."
The website said Jefferson City Manor had seven total clusters.
A statement from the nursing facility included one employee was hospitalized after testing positive for COVID-19.
It added employees were screened daily for coronavirus since the pandemic started.
