Sports are suspended until January for MIAA

KANSAS CITY, Mo (KMIZ)

The Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association announced it will be suspending all sports until January 1, 2021.

The conference said the decision became final after the NCAA announced that it would be canceling all fall championships .

Conference officials said they will be looking into moving soccer, volleyball, and football to the spring.

"The health and well-being of MIAA student-athletes, coaches, administrators, and our communities continues to be the Association's top priority," said Chairperson of the MIAA CEO Council Steve Scott.

The NCAA does allow practices, weight training, and team meetings directed by coaches to continue as long as the institutions follow COVID-19 guidelines.
