WATCH: Boone County commissioner addresses surge in COVID-19 cases

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

Boone County Southern District Commissioner Fred Parry appeared live on ABC 17 News at 5 on Thursday to field questions about the county's surge in COVID-19 cases.

Parry called the recent jump in case "shocking," especially compared to the county's early success in keeping case numbers down. He said the high case numbers are likely to stick around for some time.

Many of the cases come from contact with someone who has been diagnosed with COVID-19, Parry said.
