COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

A virtual telethon in Columbia is aiming to raise money for COVID-19 relief efforts.

The all-day event will feature entertainment as well as provide information on COVID-19. Donors will be directed to the Community Foundation of Central Missouri’s COVID-19 Regional Relief fund.

Telethon coordinator Sean Spence said the idea for the telethon came just last week. He said they have moved quickly to get this up and running after realizing how big the in the community is.

Spence says that the telethon will follow a typical telethon format, with musicians, speakers and other performers taking part in the all-day event reminding viewers to donate.
