SUNDAY UPDATES: COVID-19 cases up to 24 in Cole County, Maries County reports first case of virus

UPDATE 9:50 p.m.: Cole County has reported seven new cases of COVID-19 bringing the total there up to 24.

Two people have recovered from the virus there.

UPDATE 7:21 p.m.: Officials have announced the first case of COVID-19 in Maries County.

According to the county health department, the case is travel-related and the person is in isolation.

Officials are still working to contact anyone who may have come in close contact with the patient.

UPDATE 5:35 p.m.: Cases of Covid-19 are up to 54 in Boone County.

The number of cases in the county has jumped by 10 since Saturday night.

UPDATE 2:56 p.m.: Callaway County has a new case of COVID-19 bringing the total in the county up to 14.

In a press release, the health department said the lower number of cases seen in the county shows the community is adhering to health recommendations.

UPDATE 10:25 a.m.: Boone Hospital Center said it tested eight people for COVID-19 Saturday.

The hospital released the latest numbers Sunday morning. According to a spokesperson with Boone Hospital Center, health workers tested 546 patients altogether since March 12. Mobile drive-thru testing constituted 371 of those tests.

UPDATE 10:05 a.m.: Cases are up to 51 in Boone County.

The Boone County and City of Columbia Department of Public Health and Human Services updated its total as of 10:00 a.m. Sunday. The number was previously at 44 positive COVID-19 cases as of Saturday night.

As of Saturday evening, the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services reported 838 cases statewide and ten deaths. One of the deaths occurred in Boone County.

ORIGINAL: The first case of COVID-19 has been confirmed in Morgan County.

The Morgan County Health Center posted to Facebook Saturday, saying the case was not travel-related. Officials said they will not be releasing any additional personal information about the patient.

"We are currently working with the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services (DHSS) to conduct an investigation in an effort to identify any individual that may have come in close contact with the positive individual to monitor them for symptoms and assist in the containment of the virus," the Morgan County Health Center said in its post.
