One person charged after dog fight ends with shooting in Cooper County
WOOLDRIDGE, Mo. (KMIZ)
Cooper County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a Wooldridge residence on a dog fight and a shooting Wednesday.
During the investigation, deputies learned that a dog had gotten loose and was fighting with another dog when one of the owners used a shotgun to separate the dogs.
According to the release, the owner who fired the round was taken into custody on a 24-Hour Hold for Armed Criminal Action and Animal Abuse. The person posted bond on the 24-Hour Hold and was released, awaiting formal charges.
As the investigation continued, the gun owner was reported to be a possible convicted felon and allegedly had drugs at the residence.
On Thursday, law enforcement executed a search warrant and found guns and drugs at two different residences.
At one residence, law enforcement seized multiple guns. The resident of the home is a convicted felon. This individual bonded on hold and was released, awaiting formal charges.
Law enforcement found and seized heroin, prescription pills, meth, marijuana, and a stolen handgun at the other residence.
On Friday, a Cooper County Prosecutor filed formal charges against Elizabeth Willis, 27, with four counts of drug possession, unlawful use of a weapon and receiving stolen property.
Willis is being held at the Cooper County Jail with a $25,00 cash or surety bond.
