Cooper County Public Health Center adding security after multiple threats

BOONVILLE, Mo. (KMIZ)

Cooper County Public Health Center administrator Melanie Hutton says the organization has recently received multiple threats that require added security.

Hutton says the center has an increased law enforcement presence with a full-time officer on duty.

On Tuesday, the health center leadership approved an emergency purchase to upgrade the center's security system.

Officials say it's not yet known if the caller is local or not.

In a social media update, the health center says that "until further notice, the front door of the facility will always remain locked."

The organization is asking residents in need of services to call when you arrive for an appointment or request for services. Staff will then meet the person at the front door and grant access to the building.
