COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

The City of Columbia has added a second recycling bin that can take glass.

The city announced the new glass recycling bin in a Friday press release. It is located at 1242 Ashland Road at the contractor parking area on the University of Missouri’s campus.

There is a “porthole-style opening on the bin” and residents will have to slide bottles and jars in one at a time, the release says. Glass can be any color, but it must be transparent as opaque glass is not allowed, the release says.

Glass is still not accepted in curbside recycling collections. The first glass-containing bin was placed at the landfill in August.
