Pedestrian has life-threatening injuries after hit-and-run in northeast Columbia

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

One person was taken to an area hospital with life-threatening injuries after a hit-and-run occurred Friday night in northeast Columbia.

Lt. Derek Moore, of the Columbia Police Department, confirmed to ABC 17 News that the crash involved one vehicle and one pedestrian at East St. Charles Road and Remm Drive. Information on the victim and vehicle were not immediately given to media at the scene.

Moore stated there were “a number of people” near the intersection of East St. Charles Road and Remm Drive at the time of the accident. First responders were called at 9:10 p.m.

Boone County Joint Communications sent a notification at 9:16 p.m. stating that a crash occurred at East St. Charles Road and Remm Drive, just near the BP gas station.

Joint Communications sent a follow-up notification at 9:21 p.m. stating that the road was closed because of a crash that involved a pedestrian.

Several Columbia police officers were at the scene and had put up tape at the intersection.

Moore stated the intersection will be closed for “a while.”
