US Cellular layoffs to impact Columbia, Moberly locations

MGN

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

US Cellular announced that employees at three locations in Columbia will be among the 4,100 around the country that will be laid off.

A WARN notice that is dated March 26 but was shared on Monday states that US Cellular plans to sell “all of its wireless operations, customers, and approximately 30% of its licensed spectrum” to T-Mobile. The notice says that US Cellular “made arrangements with T-Mobile to offer employment to a majority of these employees.”

The separation will occur by June 2 and will affect three Columbia locations at 2703 E. Broadway, 2005 W. Broadway and 1804 Vandiver Drive. A store at 2200 E. Outer Road in Moberly will also be affected.

A representative for an agent who operates local US Cellular stores said the Vandiver location has been long closed and stories on Stadium Boulevard and Grindstone Parkway will remain open.
