COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

A person who needed help outside Rock Bridge High School in south Columbia prompted what the district says was a "large emergency response" outside the school Tuesday.

Columbia Public Schools alerted families via text message at about noon that an "individual needing assistance outside of RBHS" led to the emergency response. The text says students are safe and classes are continuing as normal.

Emergency radio traffic indicated the incident happened on the south side of the building. The district did not divulge other details.

A district spokesperson said some school employees helped in the emergency response.

The school has about 2,000 students.
