Power restored for nearly 1,800 Boone Electric customers who lost electricity

Nearly 1,800 Boone Electric Cooperative customers were without power on Monday afternoon.

A crew fixed the outage by 2:15 p.m. Boone Electric spokesman Zach Smith wrote in an email that a bird had damaged equipment at a substation.

Columbia Public Schools spokeswoman Michelle Baumstark said the outage has impacted Battle High School and Battle Elementary School. A message has gone out to families. Baumstark wrote in an email that parents can call the Aslin Administration Building, if they need to get in contact with the district during the outage.
