Local union, Board of Realtors to hold separate Columbia candidate forums

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

LiUNA Local 955 and the Columbia Board of Realtors announced in separate press releases Friday that they would be holding candidate forums for city elections.

LiUNA Local 955 will host the first city candidate forum at 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 25.

“This forum will focus on vital issues for union workers including their wages, benefits, working conditions and the City’s reluctance to bargain in good faith with unions,” the release says.

Mayor Barbara Buffaloe, mayoral candidate Blair Murphy, Ward 4 Councilman Nick Foster, council candidate Ron Graves and Ward 3 council candidate Jacque Sample will attend, the release says.

The union will vote on an endorsement after the forum, the release says.

The Columbia Board of Realtors will hold its event for city and school board candidates on Thursday, Feb. 6 at 311 Bernadette Dr.

The school board forum will be from 4:30-6 p.m. that day, while the forum for the city elections will be from 6:15-8:15 p.m. The event will be streamed on YouTube and Facebook, the release says.

The election is April 8.
