COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

The Central Missouri Humane Society put out an urgent call Friday for people who can foster pets during the coming winter storm.

The organization says putting some animals in foster homes will help staff care for shelter animals.

“Winter storms can be stressful for animals in the shelter,” Julie Aber, executive director of CMHS, wrote in a news release. “By fostering, you’re not only keeping a pet warm and safe but also helping us focus on providing essential care to the animals who remain in the shelter.”

Fostering through the Central Missouri Humane Society is free and the shelter provides supplies including food, bedding and medical care.

Foster volunteers should pick up animals before 6 p.m. Saturday.
