Columbia Housing Authority gets $9.8 million in federal low incoming housing tax credits for apartment redevelopment

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

The Columbia Housing Authority announced in a Thursday press release that it was awarded $9.8 million in Low-Income Housing Tax Credits from the Missouri Housing Development Commission to redevelop Blind Boone Apartments.

The funding was approved during the MHDC’s meeting on Wednesday, the release says. The project will create “27 modern, energy-efficient units that will serve low-income families of all sizes.  These homes will be paired with supportive services, aimed at enhancing the quality of life for residents. Over the next 25 years, CHA anticipates the project will benefit more than 400 individuals,” the release says.

The City and County previously pledged $350,000 with the Veterans United Foundation contributing an additional $175,000, the release says.

“This award is a testament to the collaboration between the City of Columbia, Boone County and the Veterans United Foundation, all of whom have demonstrated an unwavering commitment to affordable housing,” CHA Board Chairman Bob Hutton said in the release.
