A Columbia woman who was accused in the death of a man who was found dead in the median of Interstate 70 in March has been sentenced to probation.

Tyia Alisa Bush pleaded guilty on Monday to second-degree involuntary manslaughter and misdemeanor reckless driving. She was sentenced to five years of probation, along with a four-year suspended sentence.

Bush was previously charged with second-degree involuntary manslaughter, misdemeanor reckless driving and misdemeanor speeding.

She was accused of running over and killing Ezekiel Rachow, 30, of Columbia. Rachow was found dead on March 20 in the median near mile marker 131.5, previous reporting indicates. Police had said in March that Rachow’s body was likely laying in the median for about 12 hours before he was discovered.

Rachow was trying to cross Interstate 70 when he was hit by Bush’s vehicle, court documents in previous reporting say. Bush allegedly called Boone County Joint Communications before 1 a.m. on March 20 and claimed that “she thought she had struck a deer or something,” court documents say.

Court documents say Bush claimed that she was heading home from work and did not see what she hit. She was allegedly driving more than 104 miles per hour in a 60 mph zone, court documents say.
