Ward 4 Columbia City Councilman announces reelection bid
COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)
An incumbent Columbia City Councilman will seek reelection.
Ward 4 Councilman Nick Foster announced in a Monday press release that he intends to run to keep his seat.
The first day to officially file in the April 8 municipal election is Tuesday, with the deadline being 5 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 14. Candidate election packets can be picked up at the City Clerk’s office.
Foster won the seat in 2022 over Erica Pefferman 3,565 votes to 2,142. Ron Graves announced his intent to challenge Foster for the Fourth Ward seat earlier this month.
“The Columbia City Council has taken important steps recently, acting on issues that have been under consideration for some time,” Foster said in the release said, “such as roll cart deployment, a short-term rental ordinance, and approval of water treatment plant upgrades.”
The release also cites the creation of the Housing and Neighborhood Services Department and Office of Violence Prevention.
The April 8 election includes races for mayor and Wards 3 and 4. Three candidates have announced their intent to run for mayor: Incumbent Barbara Buffaloe, Tanya Heath and Blair Murphy.
