Ron Graves announces intent to run for Columbia’s Fourth Ward seat

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

Ron Graves announced his bid for the Columbia City Council Fourth Ward seat on Tuesday night in a press release.

Multiple seats on the Columbia City Council will be up for grabs in April, including Wards 3, 4 and the mayor’s seat. Nick Foster is the current Ward 4 councilman.

In his press release, Graves said the focus of his campaign will include public safety, financial transparency and funding infrastructure projects. He is a lifelong Columbia resident and a graduate of Hickman High School and the University of Missouri, where he received a bachelor’s degree in residential design and construction, the release says.

His release says that he is currently the chief of the Center for Development and Civic Engagement with the Harry S Truman Veterans Administration Hospital. The release also highlights his 25 years working for nonprofits and 33 years volunteering as a coach for Daniel Boone Little League.

He will begin collecting signatures to appear on the ballot within the next few days, the release says.

Election packets for potential candidates can be picked up at the City Clerk’s Office. The packet includes the petition form and other documents that will need to be completed as part of the filing process, according to the city’s website.

Mayor Barbara Buffaloe announced her reelection bid last month and Tanya Heath announced her intent to run for mayor.
