Closures announced for Cherry Street in Downtown Columbia; resurfacing projects announced on several roads throughout city

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

Portions of both driving lanes of Cherry Street in Downtown Columbia will be closed through Friday, Aug. 23, according to a Friday press release from the city.

The closure is impacting a portion of Cherry Street between Seventh and Eighth streets. The release says contractors are placing items on the roof of the Tiger Hotel. Crews were seen working in the area on Friday.

A portion of the north sidewalk on Cherry Street will be closed.

More maintenance on Columbia roads

In a second press release sent on Friday, lane closures were announced for nine streets scheduled for maintenance:

  • Westwinds Drive from West Boulevard South to the west end of the street
  • Hill Haven Lane from Mexico Gravel Road to the north end of the street
  • East Saint Charles Road from North Keene Street to East Richland Road
  • Dorado Drive East from Saint Charles Road to the north end of the street
  • Jenne Lane from Brown Station Road to the dead end on the east end of the street
  • Rolling Hills Road from Discovery Parkway to the bridge over Gans Creek
  • Fair Lane from Rice Road to the south end of the street
  • Business Loop 70 West from MO-740 (North Stadium Boulevard) to the top of the hill (near the Extended Stay America)
  • North Creasy Springs Road from West Prairieview Drive to West Obermiller Road

Additionally, 11 streets will be paved with a surface treatment, the release says:

  • East Richland Road from East Saint Charles Road to South Rolling Hills Road
  • Clark Lane from Paris Road to the Hinkson Creek Bridge
  • East New Haven Road from the New Haven Elementary School to South Rolling Hills Road
  • East Saint Charles Road from North Grace Lane to East Richland Road
  • Brown Station Road from East Starke Avenue to Route B
  • Waco Road from Brown Station Road to the west end of the street
  • Skyview Road from Brown Station Road to Greenridge Road
  • Bearfield Road from East Nifong Boulevard to the City limit line
  • South Rustic Road from the Dead end to Legion Lane
  • Bethel Street from Dustin Drive to East Old Plank Road
  • Lake Valley Lane from West Southampton Drive to the south end of the street

Crews will work from 7 a.m.-5 p.m. All pavement maintenance is expected to be completed by 5 p.m. Friday, Aug. 30.

Residents are asked to avoid parking on any streets scheduled for maintenance during work hours, the release says. For streets that typically allow parking, “no parking” signs will be posted at least 24 hours before work begins.
