COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

The Otscon Inc. plant on North Rangeline Road in Columbia is expected to close on Oct. 31, according to a WARN notice filed by the company.

The brake manufacturer announced in April that it was planning to close the Columbia facility after 36 years, but did not announce the specific date of the closure until the WARN notice was filed.

The Monday notice states that all 160 employees working at the Columbia will lose their jobs when the facility closes. In April, the company said 220 employees – 150 of which were described as full-time employees – would lose their jobs.

In April, the company said in a social media post that “The decision follows the company’s protracted financial recovery after the COVID-19 pandemic and challenging global economic conditions that have significantly impacted the automotive industry,” the post reads.

The post later cited “fluctuations in market demand, supply chain disruptions, and increasing operational costs.”
