Police: One with gunshot wound at Claudell Lane apartment complex, ‘no person of interest’ described

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

One man suffered a gunshot wound at Columbia Square Apartments in west Columbia on Thursday afternoon.

A Columbia police officer told ABC 17 News at the scene that one person was taken to an area hospital in a private vehicle. The officer said the scene is considered “stable” and there’s no threat to the public. The officer said that no one was arrested and there was no person of interest.

The officer did not detail possible suspect information. Police were called to the scene for a report of shots fired at 1:50 p.m., according to Columbia Police Department spokesperson Brian McNeill. CPD wrote on its Facebook page that the man's injuries were not-life-threatening.

Police tape was put up at the scene and was taken down around 3 p.m. The scene was cleared by 3:09 p.m.
