The City of Columbia Parks and Recreation in a Thursday press release announced the opening dates of three pools:

  • Albert-Oakland Family Aquatic Center, 1900 Blue Ridge Road: Will open May 25 and will be open noon-5 p.m. Saturday-Wednesday and noon-7:30 p.m. Thursday and Friday.
  • Lake of the Woods Pool, 6700 St. Charles Road: Will open May 28 and will be open noon-5 p.m. Sunday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday; and noon-7:30 p.m. on Monday and Wednesday.
  • Douglass Family Aquatic Center, 400 N. Providence Road: Will open May 28 and will be open noon-5 p.m. Saturday, Sunday, Monday, Tuesday and Thursday; and noon-7:30 p.m. Wednesday and Friday.

Pool schedules are subject to change based on staff availability, and can be viewed on the city’s website, the release says. A spokesperson for Columbia Parks and Rec said earlier this week that the city is still looking to fill 15 lifeguard positions, but those openings will not affect the open dates for Columbia’s outdoor pools.

The swimming beach at Stephens Lake and spraygrounds at Stephens Lake Park, Flat Branch Park and Douglass Park opened May 1 and will remain open through Sept. 30, the release says.
