COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

Assistant City Manager Matt Unrein was promoted to deputy city manager on Monday, according to a press release from the city.

The deputy city manager position helps provide strategic leadership to several departments, including Public Works, Parks and Recreation and Utilities, the release states. Unrein had been making $150,000 per year as assistant city manager and will now make $171,891.20, according to city spokeswoman Sydney Olsen.

"During my time in the role of assistant city manager, I have been impressed with the hard work and progressive thinking by City staff and departments," Unrein said in the release. "I appreciate the opportunity to help pave the way forward for future initiatives and to provide support for City Manager Seewood as our organization and city continue to grow."

Unrein replaces Mike Griggs in the position. Griggs retired on April 12, according to previous reporting.
