COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

One man was taken to an area hospital and another man was detained following a shooting Monday night in the parking lot of the Conley Road Walmart in Columbia.

A Columbia Police Department spokesperson said the victim was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries. CPD spokesperson Jenny Hopper also said “there is no reason to believe” that there is more than one suspect. The name of the victim and the person arrested were not released on Monday night. She did not say how many times the victim was shot.

Police later wrote in a social media post that the victim had "a gun shot wound."

Hopper said there is no active threat to the community. Police tape was seen in the parking lot before 8:30 p.m.

An ABC 17 News reporter saw 11 Columbia police vehicles and an ambulance at the scene, as well as 17 evidence markers.
