Boil advisory issued for south Columbia neighborhood

MGN

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

A boil advisory was issued Thursday evening for about 150 Columbia Water and Light customers.

Columbia Water and Light stated on its Facebook page that a contractor hit a water main in the 1300 block of Woodrail Avenue. Affected customers will receive a hang tag, the map on the city’s outage map shows the break affects customers from the western end of Woodhollow Drive to Forum Boulevard.

The post states that residents in the affected area should:

  • Boil water for three minutes prior to using it for cooking or drinking.
  • Not consume ice from an automatic ice maker. Remake ice with water that has been boiled for three minutes.
  • Disinfect affected dishes and food contact surfaces by immersing for one minute in clean tap water that contains one teaspoon of unscented bleach per gallon of water.
