COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

The Columbia City Council voted 6-1 to approve a conditional use permit for the construction of a coffee shop on South Providence Road on Monday night.

7Brew Coffee – which had a location open on Nifong Boulevard in recent months – was set to go on the west side of South Providence and northwest of Elm Street, next to Raising Cane’s. The restaurant was described as a “drive up facility” in the executive summary of the council packet. The restaurant will include drive-thru lanes and 10 parking spaces.

A traffic study was conducted and it did not indicate that construction would cause any excessive impacts, according to the council packet. The site contains approximately 16 spaces of stacking (8 per drive up lane).

A speaker with the coffee shop said during Monday night’s meeting that it would bring about 45 jobs that are both part-time and full-time.

An open date was not announced.
