Both driving lanes of Ridgemond Bridge to close starting Wednesday
COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)
The Ridgemont Bridge is scheduled to close for its removal and replacement on Wednesday.
The contractor for the City of Columbia, S&A Equipment and Builders LLC, announced on Wednesday that both of the driving lanes of Ridgemont will be closed between College Park Drive and Highridge Drive. The work is expected to finish by late spring or early summer 2024, weather permitting.
According to the City of Columbia, the road closure is necessary for work to begin on the bridge. The existing bridge has a 3-ton restriction and it will be replaced with a bridge that can support up to 38 tons.
Drivers will be detoured from the bridge using Stadium Boulevard and Forum Boulevard. Road and bridge closure signs will be posted several hundred feet in front of the bridge on both sides to warn drivers of the closure.
The project will cost the city $775,600, which will come from both the MoDOT Regional Bridge program and from the quarter-cent Capital Improvement Program sales tax.
