COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

Another man has died from the result of a crash last week at Stadium Boulevard and West Boulevard, the Columbia Police Department said in a Monday evening press release.

Police say Jesus Celestino Mendoza-Chavez, of Columbia, died in the crash. He was 48. Last week, CPD stated John D. Searle, 64, of Columbia, died from his injuries.

The release states that at 11:10 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 26, Columbia Police were dispatched to the intersection of Stadium and West boulevards for a reported traffic collision.

Through their investigation, CPD’s Traffic Unit determined that a 2011 GMC Sierra – driven by Mendoza-Chavez -- was traveling west on Stadium Boulevard near West Boulevard as a 2014 Mazda CX5 – driven by Searle -- was heading east. The GMC crossed into the eastbound lane, resulting in a head-on collision, according to police.

The drivers were extricated from their vehicles and brought to an area hospital. Police say Searle was wearing a seatbelt, while Mendoza-Chavez did not. CPD said in the release that the investigation is ongoing.
