Columbia police investigate shooting in North Columbia Saturday night

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

EDITOR'S NOTE: A correction has been made to say that the shooting occurred in North Columbia.

There was a heavy police presence in North Columbia Saturday night at the Super 7 Motel on Rangeline Street.

An ABC 17 News crew on scene saw at least four Columbia Police Department police vehicles, seven evidence markers and an ambulance.

The manager of the motel told ABC 17 News around 9 a.m. Sunday morning that he heard what he believed to be honking coming from down the street, and later the person who was shot arrived at the motel where 911 was called.

An officer on scene told ABC 17 News that police were investigating a shooting, and that at least one person was shot, but no additional information was available as of Saturday night. It's unclear if there were any other victims, or any suspects at this time.

The shooting happened around 11 p.m.

Crime scene tape blocked off the perimeter of the building and was taken down just before midnight.

ABC 17 News has reached out to CPD and is working to learn more information.
