COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

The City of Columbia announced in a Wednesday press release that it will hold a community forum with its final police-chief candidates at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 18 at City Hall.

Residents can submit questions online for the candidates to answer on the City’s BeHeard website for the police chief search. The press release states residents have until Oct. 6 to submit questions online. Candidates will answer questions in person, and an informal meet-and-greet will be held immediately after the forum.

The city is looking for a new police chief after Geoff Jones retired on Aug. 1. Matt Stephens was named the interim chief. City spokeswoman Sydney Olsen previously said the City was on track to fill the position by November. A list of candidates was not revealed in the release.
