Boone County’s health department expands Social Services unit

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

The Columbia/Boone County Public Health and Human Services Department is expanding some of its services.

The department's social services unit will now offer services in the Mezzanine of Columbia's City Hall.

Social services being offered will include utility assistance, information and referral, medication and medical supplies assistance, and Medicaid for pregnant women, including temporary Medicaid.

According to a release, this is part of the city's 2021 strategic plan 'inclusive community' category.

"The objective is to ensure all members of the community experience equal opportunity and treatment in all interactions with City government."

Staff at City Hall will not be able to help give pregnancy testing but free testing will still be offered at the main location at 1005 West Worley Street.
