Columbia man accused of 2020 Douglass Park murder in court Monday morning

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

The man accused of murder in a deadly shooting on Aug. 25 at Douglass Park is set to face a judge Monday morning for a pre-trial conference.

Rickey Murry, 51, is charged with first-degree murder and armed criminal action after he's accused of killing Corey Jordan in 2020. A Boone County assistant prosecutor said on Friday that Murry could accept a plea deal. Police previously said that they responded to the area, where they saw around 100 people gathered.

According to a probable cause statement, a witness said the incident occurred after a dice game escalated into an argument. The witness also allegedly told police that they saw Murry "creeping around and hiding behind trees and vehicles" before getting into a confrontation with Jordan and shooting him.

Jordan was taken to the hospital, where he later died.

The pre-trial conference is set for 9 am at the Boone County Courthouse.
