QUESTION OF THE DAY: Does the City of Columbia need a department for affordable housing?

Columbia City Manager De'Carlon Seewood unveiled his fiscal 2024 budget Thursday.

Among the highlights are a proposal to form a new city department that will focus on affordable housing. Seewood cited the increasing need for such housing as a reason to form the department.

The fiscal year begins on Oct. 1 and a final vote is expected in mid-September.

Do you think it's a good idea? Vote in the poll.
