COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

Columbia will see millions from the RAISE discretionary grant program for a transportation project, according to a press release from the U.S. Department of Transportation.

A total of $54,005,777 from the Rebuilding American Infrastructure with Sustainability and Equity is being used for projects in Missouri, the release states.

Of that total, $23,179,173 will be put towards the COMO Transportation Center Project for transit improvements, the release states. The project includes remodeling the transit maintenance and parking facility, the addition of an upgraded bus stop at the Opportunity Campus, and upgraded bus stops along current routes.

Demand for RAISE funding was higher than available funds, according to the release. This year, the Department of Transportation received $15 billion in requests for $2.26 billion available.
