COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

A fire destroyed an attached garage and damaged a home in west Columbia late Thursday.

Firefighters were called to a garage fire on Cambridge Drive at about 11:30 p.m., Columbia Fire Department Assistant Chief Jeffrey Heidenreich said. They found heavy fire in the garage that was moving into the house when they arrived.

The fire was under control within 10 minutes of firefighters' arrival, Heidenreich said. One person was evaluated by EMTs at the scene.

A fire marshal was still investigating the cause Friday morning and no damage estimate was available, Heidenreich said.
