Man in custody, shell casings found after CPD responds to shots-fired call on Claudell Lane in Columbia

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

A large police presence was seen Thursday on Claudell Lane at Columbia Square Apartments in Columbia.

A Columbia police sergeant told ABC 17 News that police responded to multiple calls of shots fired. Police have one man in custody. Several shell casings were found in the area and property damage was observed to some of the buildings.

No injuries have been reported. Police said there is currently no danger to the public.

A neighbor told ABC 17 News that they heard shots earlier in the night. They also said they saw a K-9.

An ABC 17 News reporter saw six police vehicles and officers searching the area, as well as a Crime Scene van. Later, officers moved the scene behind the street to Columbia Square Apartments. They continued to go door to door and inspect buildings for damage.

Police were also in the area for a shots-fired call last week.

"It's been crazy out here," one neighbor said.
