20th Annual Bowling for Autism Fundraiser brings in $36,000

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

The 20th Annual Bowling for Autism Fundraiser presented the Cleek Family was held Saturday and brought in $36,000 for Easterseals Midwest.

The yearly fundraiser took place Saturday morning at AMF Town and Country Lanes. Easterseals Midwest helps people with disabilities with physical rehabilitation, job training and meeting personal goals.

Event Chairman John Cleek Jr. got involved with Easterseals because of how the organization helped his son Thomas.

Cleek tells us a new thing coming out of the fundraiser is a scholarship.

"With the right services and programs, these kids can be very successful and they're really good bowlers too, I've been watching them," Cleek said.

ABC 17 News participated as both a media sponsor and a bowling team.

Another participant, Emily Robinson, told ABC 17 News she had a great time at the fundraiser.

"I bowl a lot," Robinson said. "It's fun."
