Appeals court to allow jury to decide if whistleblower protection laws were violated

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

An appeals court is allowing a Boone County jury to decide whether or not a former city manager violated Missouri’s whistleblower protection laws.

Former City of Columbia employee Colleen Spurlock is suing the city over her resignation-- which she says was forced by former City Manager John Glascock.

She says he told her she would have to resign or be fired.

An appeals court says she has a claim to move forward with the case.

She claims Glascock did this after she attended a City Council meeting where another city employee criticized the city's handling of pay raises.
