One person was arrested after allegedly shooting another person Monday night at Park Trailer Court near West Business Loop 70 and Cosmo Park, according to the Columbia Police Department.

The Columbia Police Department responded to a shots-fired call before 7 p.m. Monday.

Lt. Scott Alpers, of CPD, told ABC 17 that they arrested one person and another person had a gunshot wound. Alpers said there is no threat to the public.

CPD later tweeted that it arrested Sean Colton, 21, of Columbia. Colton is accused of first-degree domestic assault, armed criminal action and unlawful use of a weapon, according to police. He was not listed in the Boone County Jail roster online records Monday night.

The victim was taken to an area hospital. Their name was not released.

A crime-scene investigation unit was scene at the park after 8 p.m. There were two areas at Park Trailer Court the unit investigated.

A neighbor told ABC 17 News that they heard several shots go off.

"Oh it scared me," said Brent Cook, who lives in the trailer park.

Cook said he immediately called police after hearing the gunshots.

"I was in the back bedroom, which is right there, and it was a semi-automatic weapon because I mean, there was just POP, POP, POP, POP,” he said. “And I immediately called the police and called my park manager."

Cook added that he was impressed with CPD's response time

"They responded within two minutes…I'm just glad they got here as quick as they did," said Cook. "I can't believe that there are this many (officers) here."
