Columbia attorney’s death investigated

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

The Boone County Sheriff's Department is investigating the death of Steven Wyse, a Columbia attorney, according to Boone County Sheriff’s Capt. Brian Leer.

Leer says an acquaintance of Wyse requested a welfare check after he did not show up for work.

Columbia police reportedly found Wyse’s body in his home, according to a release.

Columbia police asked the Boone County Sheriff’s office to investigate Wyse’s death.

Capt. Leer says there is no suspicion of foul play but the investigation is ongoing.

The Boone County Medical Examiner’s Office will perform an autopsy later this week according to Capt. Leer.

Wyse founded the Wyse Law Firm in 2002. The firm's office is located in downtown Columbia. He handled criminal, DUI/DWI defense, personal injury and civil rights cases.
