Funding awarded to Columbia Housing Authority for housing homeless people

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

The Columbia Housing Authority (CHA) was awarded $464,593 in funding from the Continuum of Care competitive grant program.

Officials say in a release that these funds will be utilized in partnership with local homeless service provider agencies to provide permanent housing with supportive services to homeless individuals and families.

The Continuum of Care (CoC) Program is designed to:

  • Promote community-wide commitment to the goal of ending homelessness
  • Quickly rehouse homeless individuals and families
  • Promote access to and utilization of mainstream programs by homeless individuals and families, and
  • Optimize self-sufficiency among individuals and families experiencing homelessness

This funding award aligns with the Columbia Housing Authority’s current 5-Year Strategic Plan which includes the goal of, “Expanding the continuum of affordable housing services and partnerships with local organizations.”

CHA estimates this funding to impact over 60 homeless individuals and families this next year.
