QUESTION OF THE DAY: Should voters decide on Columbia’s roll cart ban?

The Columbia City Council voted Monday to rescind a ban on rolling trash bins instead of putting the question on the ballot.

Opponents of the bins, known locally as roll carts, who had the prohibition put into city law have advocated for a public vote on the issue. However, council members who voted to repeal the ban say it's time to move forward with changes to the city's trash and recycling system.
