‘Rolling roadblocks’ set for Sorrels overpass project

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

Rolling roadblocks will take place next week as crews continue repairs to Sorrels overpass over Interstate 70 in Columbia.

Contractors will set girdles for the new overpass on Monday and Tuesday, the Missouri Department of Transportation said in a tweet. The roadblocks will take place during overnight hours but crews will also be out at the project site during the day, the agency said.

The $1 million project to rebuild the overpass on Columbia's western edge was needed after a truck crashed into the underside of the structure in October. The overpass has been closed since then. MoDOT expects to finish the project in May.
