Dozens speak out during Planning and Zoning meeting on development in the Gans Creek Wild Area

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

Dozens of residents spoke during a public comment at the planning and zoning committee meeting Thursday evening to oppose development that would impact the Gans Creek Wild Area at Rock Bridge Memorial State Park

The residents are attempting to protect the area from over-development.

The residents against the development cite how it could upset the solitude and pollute the wild area, and bring light pollution.

Members of the planning and zoning committee voted down the development of the area as it is during the meeting late Thursday night.

The city council will now be recommended to deny the development.
