COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

Columbia Public Works has lifted weather-related parking restrictions on Thursday after being put into effect on Monday.

The city's snow-route parking policy was implemented for snowfall earlier in the week. Violators face a fine and having their vehicle towed if it's parked along a priority route.

A release from public works said plow drivers are focused on clearing off priority routes and will later work on residential streets. Plow crews reported into work at 7 a.m. on Thursday.

Snow-packed roads were still an issue across Mid-Missouri early Thursday morning. Crews predict roads will become slushy on Thursday, the release said.

The ABC 17 Stormtrack Team forecasted temperatures will get into the 20s -- high enough that road treatments, which were ineffective in negative temperatures, will start to work again. Jefferson City's Public Works director said crews have had to use more salt and chemicals on roads than during a typical winter storm.

Public Works officials reminded Columbia homeowners and renters that they are responsible for clearing off sidewalks in front of their residences.
