Columbia Parks and Rec opens Stephens Lake Park for ice skating

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

Stephens Lake Park is now open for ice skating.

The Columbia Parks and Rec Department says the ice now measures four inches deep, that's the minimum required to open lakes for ice activities.

The depth is measured by drilling holes through the ice from the shoreline toward the center of the lake.

Parks and Rec advise to stay away from any cracks or any inconsistencies in the ice.

Cosmo-Bethel Park has also opened for ice fishing.
