Kansas City man charged after Sunday morning chase on Interstate 70

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

Columbia Police arrested a man they believe led them on a chase on Interstate 70 that reached speeds of upwards of 100 mph.

According to court documents, Columbia police attempted to stop Devonta Findley who was allegedly driving a truck that had a license plate that came back stolen before Findley sped off.

Court documents state the chase came to an end after the truck crashed into a guardrail at the intersection of east Broadway and south Rolling Hills Road.

Police report that two men got out of the truck and ran into the woods.

Findley came back out of the woods and gave himself up nine minutes later according to court documents.

During a search of the vehicle, a Missouri State Highway Patrol trooper found a loaded gun in the vehicle according to police.

Findley is charged with 1st-degree tampering with a motor vehicle, resisiting arrest and leaving the scene of an accident.

A cash only bond of $75,000 was set for Findley.

Findley's next court date is Feb. 9 and then on Feb. 24.
