COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

City of Columbia road crews will report to work at 11 p.m. Tuesday ahead of expected snow Wednesday morning.

The city said in a news release that road temperatures are forecast to be below freezing Wednesday morning with up to an inch of light snow falling through midday. Temperatures in the upper 20s to around 30 are expected Wednesday morning.

The system is expected to dump more snow in the northern and western parts of Mid-Missouri.

A winter weather advisory is in effect for Saline, Chariton, Macon and Randolph counties from late Tuesday night through 6 a.m. Wednesday for the potential of slick roads because of light snowfall accumulation. Those areas could receive 1 to 2 inches of snow, according to ABC 17 Stormtrack forecasts.

The city said it will track changes in the weather and adjust plans if needed.

Temperatures are expected to rise above freezing Wednesday afternoon.
