Columbia Police investigating assault at Best Western on Clark Lane

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

A large group of Columbia Police are at the Best Western Plus Columbia Inn on Clark Lane.

According to an ABC 17 News crew on scene, there are eight to nine police vehicles including a K-9 unit at the hotel.

Our crew on scene are reporting none of the vehicles have lights on.

Columbia Police Sgt. Patrick Corcoran said police are currently investigating an assault with a weapon that likely happened a couple hours ago.

Police found evidence of the assault in a room at the hotel.

Officials say the victim has serious injuries and was dropped off at the hosptial by suspects. University Hospital employees alerted the police to the victim.

They are going to be on the scene for a while trying to talk to witnesses and investigating.

Four people have been detained but are not arrested.
